How we counted
- Every crash in NJDOT's 2023 records with a Jersey City location, the newest full year the state has published as of October 9, 2026.
- A crash counts toward an intersection when the police report places it at that cross street. Reports that spell a street differently, like "Route 501" and "Kennedy Blvd," count as one street.
- People hurt counts everyone injured or killed, from a possible injury to a death. Crashes with no injuries count only toward crashes.
- People on foot and on bikes come from NJDOT's pedestrian table, which records each one separately.
- Map pins sit at the middle of the crash locations police recorded for each intersection. Locations far from the rest are left out of the pin, not the counts.
- These are police reports, so a crash nobody reported isn't here. Crash numbers never change a law firm's score.
