Terms of use
Counselworthy is an independent research site, not a law firm. Nothing here is legal or medical advice or creates a lawyer-client relationship. Our rankings are our opinion, based on the public records and method we publish, as of the date shown. You can reuse our research data with credit and a link.
These terms
By using Counselworthy, you agree to these terms. "We" means Counselworthy and its editor, in Jersey City, New Jersey. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
Not legal advice
Our guides give general information about the law, with the source for every fact. They can't account for the facts of your situation. For advice about your claim, talk to a lawyer licensed in New Jersey. Using this site doesn't make anyone your lawyer.
Not medical advice
Some guides describe injuries and when to get care, quoting public health sources like MedlinePlus. That's general information, not medical advice, and we aren't doctors. If you're hurt, see a doctor. In an emergency, call 911.
Our rankings are our opinion
We rank law firms on public records, using the method we publish. A rank or score is our opinion as of the date on the page. Records change, and we recheck them on a schedule.
A rank or score isn't a judgment of any lawyer's skill, and it isn't a promise about any firm's work or any case's result. No firm can pay to change its rank.
We don't refer cases
We don't match anyone with a lawyer, sell contact details, or take referral fees. If you contact a firm, that's between you and the firm. See our disclosure.
If something is wrong
Send us the page and the source on our corrections page. Verified fixes go live within 7 days, and every fix is logged.
Using our content
- Research data. The data on our research pages, like the transparency scorecard and crash data, is free to reuse. Credit Counselworthy and link to the page. Each page gives the details.
- Maps. You can embed our crash maps with the code we provide, which keeps the credit link.
- Everything else. Our words and design are ours. You're welcome to link to any page and to quote a short passage with a link back.
Automated access
Search engines and AI crawlers are welcome, as our robots.txt says. Please don't load the site so hard that it slows down for everyone else.
Other websites
We link to firms' websites and to the sources behind our facts. Other people run those sites, and their own terms and privacy policies apply there.
Badges
Ranked firms can show a free Counselworthy badge. A badge isn't an endorsement or a referral. A firm using it in an ad must include this notice: "No aspect of this advertisement has been approved by the Supreme Court of New Jersey."
Firm names and logos
We use each firm's name, and the small icon from its own website, only to show which firm a page is about. A firm can ask us to show its initials instead, and we'll switch within 7 days. See the corrections page.
No guarantees
We work to keep every fact sourced and current, but we can't promise the site is free of errors or always available. Use it as one input. Check anything that matters with its source or a lawyer.
We provide the site as it is and as available, with no promises of any kind, stated or implied, including that it's accurate, complete, current or fit for any purpose.
Limits on our liability
You decide what to do about an injury, a claim, an insurer or a lawyer. As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for any loss that comes from using this site or relying on it, including those decisions. Some places don't allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you.
New Jersey law
New Jersey law governs these terms. Any dispute about them or the site goes to the state or federal courts in New Jersey.
Changes and questions
When these terms change, we update the date at the top of this page. Using the site after a change means you accept the new terms. Questions go to hello@counselworthy.com.
