Free legal help after a car accident: legal aid, referrals and consultations
Short answer
- Free legal aid is for people with low incomes, and federally funded programs generally can't take an injury case a private lawyer would take for a share of the award.
- So most injured people start with a free consultation, or a county bar's referral service.
- In Hudson County, that costs a $35 review fee.
